I’m so excited to introduce to you Andrea, a fashion editor for none other than Cowboys and Indians Magazine! Growing up I always dreamed of being a fashion editor for a magazine, so meeting a sweet & humble Midwestern gal like Andrea is ridiculously rad for me. I can’t wait for you guys to learn all about her + hear her #WranglerNFR styling tips!

I’m originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but now reside in Decatur, Texas with my husband, Marshall.

I’m a Midwestern girl who was swept up in love with horses and the Western way of life from a young age. I grew up riding bareback through corn fields all day long, before cell phones for your kids were a thing.

I attended my first PRCA rodeo when I was five, and became absolutely enamored with the sport. I spent the next two decades in the arena as a competitor, as well as behind the chutes as a part of Western media.

Growing up in the Midwest was an incredible blessing and it will always be home to me. I hope to represent Iowa’s agriculture and unique Western experiences, though they go overlooked by many looking for open spaces to explore.

When I’m not on the job, I love to spend time in the kitchen baking up desserts, designing (and redesigning) my home, and spending time exploring the West outdoors, especially horseback.

I work with an awesome team who encourages me to take risks with creativity. I love to play with fashion concepts that showcase the versatility of Western attire while inspiring others to step outside their own style box. Having the privilege to share talented makers and brands with the C&I audience is such an amazing opportunity, and I feel so blessed to bring light to incredible, wearable artistry.

✯𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙤-𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙛𝙞𝙩?

I describe my style as “Santa Fe Edge” - classic, high-end Western pieces paired with black, leather, and always a touch of mystery. My go-to outfit would be a pair of black leather joggers paired with a black turtleneck, a statement Western jacket, a custom felt, and tastefully done accessories. I’m addicted to custom bags and statement turquoise!

I absolutely love what I do as a fashion editor, and hope to expand my influence with new projects in and beyond the editorial world, branching out into more artistic, avante garde styling. I also hope to help others achieve their personal style goals through style consulting and closet building.

Don’t take rejection personally, whether it be your ideas, a job you applied for, or yourself as a person. Believe in your goals, commit to your “why” and keep experimenting even when others don’t understand your process. Sometimes you have to step out on your own to experience major personal growth!

My best advice is to not overthink dressing for the NFR. Pack really great basics: well-fitting denim, neutral separates, and colors you frequently wear in classic shapes. Then, you can accent them with statement accessories, jackets, jewelry, etc. Take the pressure to create complicated outfits off of yourself, and leave it a little bit open ended. I guarantee you’ll change your mind on planned outfits when you actually go to get dressed!

Also, since the NFR is in Texas this year, I’m expecting to see fewer flashy ensembles (sequins, pattern mixing, ultra-bright colors) and more timeless denim, leathers, neutral felts. Fort Worth style has a refinement to it, and I believe NFR attendees will pick up on that!
